Good morning Church,
After today we have 14 days until the celebration of the birth of our Lord! I can’t wait! We will conclude this sermon series through the book of Galatians -- #GospelLife, on Christmas morning! What a great way to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus then to conclude with a final word from God about what our Gospel Lives are all about!
This morning I am going to preach the 11th sermon in this Gospel Life series – Gospel Restoration. If you haven’t noticed a theme yet in the book of Galatians then you haven’t been listening very well. This book is all about the Gospel! Everything we do should be centered in the Gospel. The Gospel is the only answer to the destruction of this world! Sin has caused the perfect creation of God to be warped and distorted. Sin is the result of all evil and the consequence of sin has always been destruction. The only answer that can be offered, the only answer that can liberate, and the only answer that can save is the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
The Gospel Life is our testimony to the wonderful life saving power of the Gospel itself! So we need to understand that when we sin, when we fall away, when the tragic pull of this world has sucked us down into despair… it is the responsibility of our brothers and sisters in Christ to come and grab ahold of us and restore us to the Gospel Life! This is the act of Gospel Restoration and this the purpose of our text this morning!
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness.
We should restore those who have been caught in any transgression. We do this by bearing each other’s burdens. This is what a Gospel-led, Gospel-transformed, Gospel-restoring community looks like! The reason we are so inept in Gospel Restoration is because we loath the concept of bearing each other’s burdens.
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Yet we cannot ignore the command of scripture. Come this morning and listen to what the Word of God proclaims about Gospel Restoration.!
