Giant Killer _ 07

Good Morning Church

Today we kill another giant. Today we kill what is probably the most dangerous giant of them all. Today we look at Resentment and we slay him on the battlefield of forgiveness! The reason I put this giant in the “most dangerous” category is because Scripture tells us something very interesting when we let resentment or bitterness into our lives. Bitterness does something to us. Bitterness keeps us from attaining the most spectacular gift ever given! Bitterness keeps us from experiencing the special divine Love that Christ freely offers! Bitterness keeps us from receiving the Grace of God! Now I don’t know about you but that is one dangerous giant!

Heb. 12:15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;

See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God! WOW! This bitterness, this resentment… it keeps us from obtaining the Grace of God! How tragic! Yet so many Christians carry around bitterness in their hearts and they are missing out on God’s grace. Bitterness can only grow in your heart when you refuse to forgive! Yes forgiveness is the only weapon that can kill this giant! Think of this giant as Superman and forgiveness is Kryptonite! Superman in impervious to all attacks unless you have Kryptonite… with Kryptonite you can kill Superman! Forgiveness is the only thing that can kill Resentment!

If you are a Christian then you should understand the power of Forgiveness right? Of course, because Christ died on the cross so that you can be forgiven! Christ left everything heaven had to offer, voluntarily put on humanity, raised in poverty, lived a sinless life taking on every temptation known to mankind, taking your place upon the cross so that you can be reconciled to God! Christ died so that you may be forgiven! He clears the debt! There is nothing more owed! He has removed your sin as far as the east is from the west. He has washed your filthy clothes as white as snow! You have been forgiven and he no longer holds your sins against you!

Psalm 32:1-2 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

I beseech you this morning to make it to church! If you are reading this blog this morning and contemplating whether or not you should go ahead and come; then let this be a confirmation to you. Get dressed and head out. You may be thinking about visiting or looking for a church home… you can find the truth of God’s word and the love of Christian fellowship at Joy Baptist Church. You do not want to miss this sermon!
