Good Morning Church,
I hope you have woken this morning with a great anticipation. It is my prayer that this anticipation is so palpable that you can’t wait to get to church because you fully expect to be overwhelmed by the manifest present of Jesus Christ our Lord! Be ready this morning church! Be ready to experience Jesus like you have never experienced him before. This should be our anticipation every Sunday we wake up. We shouldn’t look for a reason not to come. We shouldn’t debate in our minds if Church is worth getting up for. You shouldn’t worry about today being your only day off.
Ask yourself this one question? “Do I believe Jesus is everything the Bible says he is?” If you answer yes then you need to know that his church is where you will find him this morning! How do I know this? Well Jesus told Peter that it was his “church” he would build and the “gates of hell would not prevail against it.” (Matt. 16:18) He told the Apostle John in his last Revelation to humanity to write these seven letters… You do not need to wonder whether or not the Church was important to Jesus. Let me just lay that myth to rest. No need to argue the church is “the people” and not a building. I concede this point. This is not my purpose here. My purpose here is that Jesus loved the church so much that upon his last revelation to humanity he told the Apostle John to write seven letters to the CHURCH. That place where we go to meet corporately and worship Him as he pours out his Spirit upon us. It is the church that Jesus was concerned about in Revelation and it is the Church that you should be concerned about today.
So, I am inviting to you to come and worship with us this morning at Joy Baptist Church. I am beginning a new series this morning on the Advent of Jesus Christ. We are going to spend the next four weeks leading up to Christmas unpacking Isaiah 9:1-7. I want you to know the one who was born that would take away the sins of the world. I want you to hear about the one who was born that was prophesied some 700+ years before it occurred. I want you to hear this morning about our Jesus so that you can sing…
Joy to the world! The Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing
Joy to the earth! The Saviour reigns;
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make his blessings flow
Far as the curse is found
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love
Come you can be my personal guest. I will save you a seat right next to me.
