Good Morning Church,
On Dec. 1st this year I will have been a father for 26 years!!! WOW! I am so blessed! Psalm 127:3-5 says “Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord, offspring, a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons born in one’s youth. Happy is the man who has filled his quiver with them. They will never be put to shame when they speak with their enemies at the city gate.”
I have two sons, about 18 months a part. As I contemplate upon this scripture I can’t help but smile. Because God in his grace allowed me to raise my sons up in the way they should go. I am by no means the perfect father. But one thing I can say is that I raised men not boys. They both are now married to women that are beautiful princesses of the King of Heaven! Tyler and Amanda have two children of their own and I am a proud grandfather. Dakota and Kaitlyn are beautiful servants in their church and I couldn’t be any prouder of my Sons!
This Father’s Day has been one of great reflection. God said I am blessed because my sons were born in my youth and they are like arrows in the hand of warrior. But there is more to that, I think. I am not only blessed because I have two sons. I am blessed because by the grace of God and his reckless love for me… My Good Good Father sent his only son Jesus Christ to die for me!
I am blessed because Jesus came and shed his blood upon that old rugged cross so that I could be saved. I am blessed because Jesus saved me and I was able to show my sons the life that Jesus had saved me for. I am blessed because I answered the question that Joshua asked his people “Choose this day whom you will serve… as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.!”
I am blessed because both of my sons have professed faith in Jesus Christ! I am blessed because Jesus not only died for me but he also died for my sons and for anyone who will call upon his name! So, on this Father’s Day I am blessed to be a father of two son, but more importantly I am blessed to be a son of my Good Good Father who recklessly chased after me! My Father in heaven, who would not abandon me in my sin and helplessness. My Father in heaven who came and meet me in my hopelessness and offered me hope. My Father in heaven who reached out his hand and said “Get up, Pick up and Walk on!”
I cry out this morning with a wonderful praise to my Father in Heaven… HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! The question you should be asking this morning church… Is it a Happy Father’s Day for you? Perhaps you didn’t have a great earthly father? Perhaps your earthly father never told you about your heavenly father? Well today you can have a Happy Father’s Day because our Great FATHER in Heaven has made it possible for you to be with him in eternity!
Will you call upon the name of Jesus today? That will be a great Father’s Day!
